Much better

The virus is nearly gone. I feel human again. Which is a good thing since I had storytime again today. That's three days in a row that I've had to this. I'm tired. I don't want to see another kid! My throat is only a little sore tonight and I have a cough starting.

I left work bang on 5.30. No dilly dallying around for me. Got out to the car only to find it wouldn't start. It would only make a clicking sound and the clock read 12.00. So I hurried back to the library in a brewing storm and asked if anyone had jumper cables. Luckily one of the librarians did, so we waited around a bit for the downpour to stop and then ran along to the parking garage. As we were fumbling around in the dark trying to find the positive and negative charge thingies (yes, that is the technical term) a cop showed up and asked if he could help. He had a flashlight so we let him do the work. In 2 minutes my car was up and running. I went straight to the auto store where a nice guy tested the battery, all the while telling me that it was probably my alternator and how much that would cost. Luckily the screen read bad battery and I paid him $50 for a new battery and installation. That's the only bit of luck I seem to have had today.

Now I'm away since I have a kitten crawling up my leg.

In the UK I can pretty much guarantee that any car I (or my family) have bought has had a dead battery within 3 months. The dealers here stick the oldest crappest batteries they can find in the car.
I get petty revenge by buying a replacement from Halfords and then dumping the old battery at the dealers asking them to dispose of them (I do my own installation - I am a real man!).

My car is used and the guy who changed the battery said that he thought it was the original (2003) battery, but that Chevy use kind of crap batteries. My real man is in Tucson, AZ so he couldn't change the battery for me. Boo...
